HUDSON—John H. Harp, Jr., 90, of Greenport, passed away Saturday, October 9, 2010 at Columbia Memorial Hospital.
Born October 11, 1919 in Hudson, he was the son of the late Pauline (Rosenthal) and John H. Harp, Sr.
Mr. Harp was a printer for 23 years at the Register-Star and 23 years at the Albany Times-Union. He also drove for several local dry cleaners.
He served in the US Army during WWII and earned several medals.
Mr. Harp was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Hudson, a member of the Hudson American Legion # 184 and a member of the Hudson Elks Lodge 787. He enjoyed bowling on several leagues.
Mr. Harp was predeceased by his beloved wife, Elsie (Rivenburg) Harp; his daughter, Kathryn Wolchak; his sister, Katherine Rikert; and his brother, Donald Harp.
He was the beloved father of John H. Harp, III of Greenport, Brian Harp of Stuyvesant, and Karen Kellerhouse of North Claverack; devoted grandfather of Kenneth Kellerhouse of Hudson, Michael Kellerhouse of North Claverack, Matthew Wolchak of Greenport and Joshua Wolchak of Brooklyn; loving great-grandfather of Alex Kellerhouse, Sydney Kellerhouse and Annabelle Wolchak; and special uncle to many nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours are 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, October 13 at the Bates & Anderson-Redmond & Keeler Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, October 14 at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church.
Burial will be in Cedar Park Cemetery.
