ALBANY—Elizabeth R. Proper, 74, of Germantown passed to her new life Wednesday October 6, at St. Peter’s Hospital.
Born October 18, 1935 in Hudson she was the daughter of the late John and Theresa (Berkowitz) Skoda.
Mrs. Proper was a graduate of College of St. Rose, Albany and taught English in the Kingston School District as well as the Germantown Central School District.
She was a communicant of the Holy Trinity Parish at Germantown; a teacher and director of religious education at Resurrection Church. She served as chairwoman of the Germantown Planning Board, was member of Columbia Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, was involved with the Germantown Food Pantry, Meals on Wheels and the Edith Casey Stocking Fund.
Survivors include her husband of 52 years, Roger W. Proper; three sons, Roger (Linda) Proper of Selkirk, David (Mary Ann) Proper of Coxsackie, Daniel (Trish) Proper of Glenmont; four daughters, Peggy (Gary) Algozzine of Bradenton, FL, Patricia (Michael) Brugger of Woodbury, MN, Susan (Vincent) Randazzo of Germantown and Maria (Daniel) Hart of Chelmsford, MA; 17 grandchildren; her brother, Rudy Skoda; and sister, Margaret (John) Alvarez.
She was predeceased by her brothers John and Joseph Skoda and sister Mary Deane.
Mrs. Proper loved God, her family, her church and was deeply committed to her community.
Calling hours will be 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, October 10 at the Yadack-Fox Funeral Home, Germantown.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Monday at the Holy Trinity Parish Church of the Resurrection of Germantown, where a Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Germantown Community Cupboard, in care of, The Germantown Reformed Church, P.O. Box 115, Germantown, 12526.
