Rose Frentino, 96, owned confectionary store

LIVINGSTON—Rose Catherine Frentino of Livingston and formerly of Hudson, died Saturday, October 2, 2010 at Livingston Hills Nursing Home. She was 96.

Born in Albany, August 26, 1914, she was the daughter of the late Rosario and Antoinette (Rico) Narlo.

Mrs. Frentino and her late husband, Donald, were the former owner/operators of Don’s Confectionary Store in Hudson, which they founded in 1947. She was a member of the former Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Ladies Sodality and Hudson Elks B.P.O.E # 787.

Survivors include one son, John J. and (Jeanne) Frentino of Claverack; one daughter, Lucille and (Charles) Friss of Hudson; one sister, Janet DelFonso of Fonda; grandchildren, Michelle Niesen, Renee Daniel, Janine Card, Charles, Donald, Nicholas and Cheryl Friss; as well as seven great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by brother, Joseph and Frank Narlo and one sister, Jennie Sakkestad.

Calling hours will be Monday, October 4 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the McDonald-Valenti-Richards Funeral Home, 700 Town Hall Drive, Greenport. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered Tuesday, 10 a.m. at St. Mary’s Church, 429 East Allen Street, Hudson, with Fr. Winston Bath officiating. Burial in the family plot will follow at Cedar Park Cemetery, Hudson.
