PHILMONT—Stanley F. Stickles, a lifelong resident of Philmont, died Friday, September 17, 2010 at the Pine Haven Home. He was 96.

Born in Philmont November 29, 1913, he was the son of the late Floyd and Hazel (Shutts) Stickles.

 

Mr. Stickles was a veteran of WWII and served in the U.S. Army. He was the owner/operator of Ken’s Garage in Philmont until his retirement. He was a member of Minkler-Seery Post#252 American Legion in Philmont, life member of the Columbia County Firefighters Association and a life member of the Philmont Fire Company.

Surviving are, his two daughters, Patricia and (Dean) Buffington of Missoula, MT, Susan and (Peter) Chiaro of Valatie; five grandchildren, Jonathan and (Terry) Chiaro, Tanya and (Greg) Nielsen, Brent Buffington, Lori Chiaro, Kurt and (Krystina) Buffington; great-grandchildren, Jakob Buffington, Kaylee Chiaro; and two nephews, Craig and Paul Robertson.

There are no calling hours or funeral services. Burial will be in Mellenville Union Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Philmont Volunteer Fire Company, P.O. Box 87, Philmont, 12565.

Arrangements are with the McDonald-Valenti-Richards Funeral Home in Greenport.
