NEW YORK CITY—Doris M. Appell, 88, of New York City, passed away Saturday, September 4, 2010 at her home.
Born in Brooklyn, April 12, 1922, she was the daughter of the late William T. and Florence (Logan) Appell.
Ms. Appell graduated from high school at 14 years of age and at 18 graduated from Queens College with a BA. She worked for Metropolitan Life in New York City until her retirement in 1984. She was known for her needlework and her love of bulldogs.
She is survived by her niece, Wendy A. Bopp (Daniel) of Kinderhook and their children Jeanne and Montgomery Bopp, both of Kinderhook. She was predeceased by her brother William T. Appell and his wife Jean.
Private family services will be held at a later date. There will be no calling hours. Inurnment will be in St. Paul’s Columbarium in Kinderhook.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, Kinderhook 12106. Arrangements are with the Raymond E. Bond Funeral Home, Inc. Valatie.
