Adam Nartowicz, 90, WWII vet, rec director

HUDSON—Adam A. Nartowicz, 90, of Hudson, died Monday, September  6, 2010 at Columbia Memorial Hospital.

Born December 24, 1919 in Hudson, he was the son of the late Waclaw and Kamelia (Sokol) Nartowicz.

Mr. Nartowicz worked in the maintenance department for the US Postal Service for 37 years and as recreation director at the Hudson Boys Club for more than 25 years.

He served in the US Army Air Corp during World War II.

He was a member of the Hudson Elks Club, the Hudson VFW, the Hudson American Legion, and the Federation of Polish Sportsmen Club.

Mr. Nartowicz played for the Polsians, the 1939 undefeated Hudson Youth League Baseball Team.

Surviving are his son, Adam A. Nartowicz, Jr. and his wife, Sandra, of Mellenville; his daughter, Mary E. (Nartowicz) Zanotelli and her husband, James, of Greenport; his daughter-in-law, Pamela Nartowicz of Ghent; three granddaughters, Erin Nartowicz, and Katie and Kristen Zanotelli; his sister, Helen “Lovey” O’Brien of Hudson; his brother, Joseph Nartowicz of Stony Point, and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his wife, Mildred (Finch) Nartowicz, his son, Robert “Bobby” Nartowicz, and three sisters, Jane, Dorothy, and Anja.

Calling hours are 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, September 9 at the Bates & Anderson-Redmond & Keeler Funeral Home.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. Friday, September 10 at Holy Trinity Parish, St. Mary’s Church.

Burial will be in Cedar Park Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
