GT. BARRINGTON—Marion M. Sperry, 92, of West End Road in Hillsdale, passed away Tuesday, August 24, 2010 at Fairview Commons.
She was born July 21, 1918 in Ackermanville, PA the daughter of the late Eli and Sovilla (Goodyear) Ackerman.
She was a graduate of Bangor Pennsylvania High School.
She was also very active in the Guiding Eyes for the Blind in Yorktown Heights as a puppy raiser.
Mrs. Sperry was a skilled seamstress. Many of her handicrafts were distributed internationally, as well as, donated to civic organizations.
Survivors include five sons, Richard of Cathy’s Valley, CA, Donald of Rhinebeck, Daniel of Seffner, FL, Robert of Boise, ID, and William of Granville, MA; a daughter, Susan of Hillsdale; 10 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband, Howard W. Sperry in 1992, a son, Dale in 2006, a brother, Jay Ackerman and a sister, Velma Buskirk.
There are no calling hours.
Funeral service and burial will be at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Guiding Eyes for the Blind, 611 Granite Springs Road, Yorktown Heights 10598.
