George K. Foster, 89, decorated WWII Army veteran

ATHENS—George K. “Shorty” Foster, 89, of Hudson, died Sunday, July 11, 2010 in Athens.
Born March 8, 1921 in Stanford, he was the son of William and Florence Foster.

Mr. Foster served in the US Army during World War II, earning the EAME Service Medal, the Good Conduct Medal, and the WW Victory medal.
He worked as a driver for Miron Ready Mix Cement Company.
Surviving are two daughters, Sandy Sasso of Athens and Sherry Backman of
Gilbertsville; a son, Raymond Fish of Norwich; his wife, Clara Foster of
Athens, several grandchildren, nieces, and nephews, and his good friend,
Philip Wright, who helped care for him.
A calling hour will begin at 11 a.m. Friday, July 16 at the Bates & Anderson—Redmond & Keeler Funeral Home, followed by graveside services at Cedar Park Cemetery in Hudson at noon.
