HUDSON–A march for Women’s Rights is scheduled for Saturday, January 21 from 1 to 2:30 p.m.
A Facebook post at www.facebook.com/events/1800676520194533/ says that marchers will gather at 7th Street Park and march down Warren Street to the waterfront “in solidarity with our brothers and sisters from across the country.” Marchers are encouraged to bring signs and anyone may participate.
Following the march participants have been invited to join Columbia County Sanctuary Movement’s kickoff at Kite’s Nest, 108 South Front Street from 2 to 6 p.m.
There are also marches Saturday in Washington, D.C., New York City and other communities around the country. County resident Wendy Dwyer, 518-526-5594 or missmisc@fairpoint.net, is a coordinator for buses leaving from Albany and other nearby locations for the Women’s March and protest gathering at the United Nations headquarters in Manhattan.
The buses will leave from the corner of Madison Avenue and Eagle Street in Albany at 6:15 a.m., with stops to pick up passengers in Catskill at 7:10 and Kingston at 7:30 a.m. The buses will return to Albany at approximately 8:30 p.m.
The Albany buses are sponsored by Upper Hudson Peace Action, People of Albany United for Safe Energy (PAUSE) and concerned citizens.
