GERMANTOWN—Four vehicles were involved in a collision that left a Livingston woman dead on State Route 9G, south of Hover Avenue, May 11 at 3:06 p.m.
Investigating Sheriff’s deputies found that a 2007 Honda Silver Wing Scooter operated by Caitlin M. Briggs, 24, of Livingston was traveling south on Route 9G, when for unknown reasons, it crossed into the northbound lane.
There, the scooter struck a 2006 Honda Pilot operated by Herbert Rockwell, 36, of Schoharie which was headed north with one female passenger. Mr. Rockwell and his passenger were evaluated by Northern Dutchess Paramedics and released at the scene.
Ms. Briggs died at the scene. Columbia County Coroner James Bertram investigated.
The two other vehicles involved in the crash were southbound behind the scooter. A 2002 Toyota Rav4, operated by Sophia Burgos, 24, of Chicago, IL, and a 2009 Honda Accord, operated by Lora Bagshaw, 31, of Germantown. Both vehicles were struck by flying accident debris and both operators were checked by paramedics and released, according to a press release from Columbia County Sheriff David P. Bartlett.
The accident remains under investigation by Sheriff’s investigators, the Sheriff’s Accident/Incident Investigation Unit and Coroner Bertram.
