Columbia County Habitat for Humanity held a ground-breaking, Friday, July 1, in Valatie. The ceremony featured dozens local officials and neighbors, as well as the two families who will live in the passive townhouse designed by Dennis Wedlick of Barlis Wedlick Architects of Hudson. The old building on the lot, on Main Street, was taken down in late June and the new house is expected to be completed by March 2017. Pictured are Jason Pratt, one of the residents who will own half of the two-family townhouse; Habitat Board Vice President Vice President Peter Cervi; Valatie Mayor Diane Argyle; Habitat Executive Director Brenda Adams; Charlene Paden, Chair of Family Selection Committee; and the other future owner Renee Beaucage.
