Village clerk to leave Chatham; Henry will step in

CHATHAM–Mayor Thomas Curran announced April 18 that that Village of Chatham Clerk Kathy Burke has resigned her position effective Friday, April 25, 2014.

Mayor Curran said in a release from his office that he plans to appoint Barbara Henry, the current village administrator/treasurer as the clerk/treasurer. Board approval is needed to confirm the appointment, and a resolution will be made at the regular meeting of the Board on Thursday, April 24, 2014.

 

“Kathy was offered a full-time opportunity in the field where she has most experience, and she decided to accept it. She has done good work for the year she worked for the village and I wish her well in the future,” said Mayor Curran in the release.

The mayor also said that by appointing Ms. Henry clerk/treasurer, “We will avoid having to start fresh again with someone in that position. She has worked in the village office for nearly a year and a half and has a good understanding of the requirements of the position.”

If the appointment is confirmed, the mayor said the village hire a deputy clerk to support the operations of the village office.

Applicants are already being sought for the position, which is posted on the Village Facebook page and the village website, villageofchatham.com. The position calls for 30 hours per week at $15 per hour.
