CHATHAM — Registration for The Town of Chatham Crellin Park Summer Program for Youth takes place on Monday, June 11 from 5 to 7 p.m. and on Tuesday, June 12 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the park pavilion off of Route 66.
The program begins on Monday, July 9 and will continue Monday through Friday for six weeks until August 17. Certified lifeguards will teach American Red Cross Swim lessons from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. and from 11 a.m. to noon, Monday through Friday. Children of all ages are encouraged to sign up, as six levels of swim instruction will be offered.
Two 3-week sessions will be offered at $35 per session per child with a $10 discount for additional siblings. Following each 3-week session, participants will be given either a certificate of completion or an ARC certification card that graduates the participant to the next swim level.
The Afternoon Enrichment Program will begin after swim lessons each day at 12:30 p.m. and end at 3 p.m. Monday through Friday. Children will be split into age appropriate groups from age 4 to 13. Each group will be supervised by trained camp counselors in various activities at the park.
The fee for the afternoon program is $65 per child for residents who reside in the Town and/or Village of Chatham ($45 for additional siblings) and $95 for nonresidents ($65 for additional siblings) for the entire six weeks.
The Kids’ Gardening Program will also take place again this year beginning on July 9 and continue for six weeks on Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. The cost of the garden program is $30. This program gives kids a chance to dig, plant, harvest, and learn about organic gardening at the Chatham Community Garden at Crellin Park. Class size is limited to 15 children. The Kid’s Gardening Program is co-sponsored by The Real Food Network of Columbia County and The Town of Chatham Recreation Program.
New this year is the Summer Art Program that will be offered to youth ages six and up. The program focuses on drawing from observation and students will learn various drawing techniques as well as exploring a variety of media, including charcoal, pastels, and watercolor. In addition, students will be familiar with various styles of art.
This program will be divided into two age groups and will meet once a week. Students between the ages of 6 and 9 will meet on Tuesdays from 10:00 to11:00 a.m. Students aged 10 and up will meet on Thursdays from 10:00 to11:00 a.m. The cost is $55 per student which includes all supplies. In an effort to give personal attention to each student, class size is limited to 6 students in each age group.
The Youth Tennis Program, sponsored by the Town of Chatham, the Columbia County Youth Bureau in conjunction with the United State Tennis Association (USTA), will take place three times per week for three weeks at 9 a.m., 10 a.m. and 11 a.m. Students will be divided into groups based on age and ability. The fee for this program is $30 per child and any child age 5 to 16 is welcome to participate. The lessons will be taught by local high school and college tennis players and will take place on Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings.
ProKick Soccer Camp will take place from July 30 thru August 3rd from 8:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. The camp for players age 5 to 15 and is sponsored by The Chatham Soccer Club/Morris Association and the Town of Chatham Recreation Department. Cost of the camp is $125.

The Crellin Park beach opens to the public for the weekend on June 23 & 24 from noon to 6 pm, is closed from June 25 to June 27 for staff training, then opens every day beginning June 28 from noon to 6 pm daily.
