The Hudson River Historic Boat Restoration and Sailing Society (HRHBR&SS), a local, non-profit sailing organization that owns and maintains the historic sailboat Eleanor, hosted an open house at its Philmont workshop, Sunday, April 16. The Eleanor sits on a custom made trailer that allows room for the 3,000lb lead keel. That is half the weight of the sailboat. Pictured is a view of the Eleanor from the back, which shows the transom with name engraved. At the event, visitors could learn about the history of the Eleanor’s 120th year with her crew as they prepare the oldest wooden sailboat on the Hudson River for the 2023 sailing season.
