COEYMANS — The annual Recycle Day event was held Saturday, enabling town residents to dispose of 80,000 pounds of unwanted items free of charge.

Three companies donated their services to the effort — Thiele Carting, Collins and Son, and C.D. Man LLC.

The value of the local companies’ donations is valued at approximately $15,000, according to Town Supervisor George McHugh.

“Without the generosity of these three local residents and companies, the town would not be able to offer this to Coeymans residents free of charge,” according to a statement on the town website.

Town residents could bring their items to two locations — the Coeymans Highway Garage on Route 143 or the WM Biers property on Route 144 across from the Port of Coeymans.

There was no charge to town residents to dispose of items.

And dispose they did, bringing in everything from appliances to furniture, construction materials, wood, drywall and more.

Recycle Day is typically held in the town each spring.
