WESTERLO — A Westerlo man wanted on charges that he failed to show up for a sentencing in February was found Aug. 6 in Nassau, according to state police.

Andrew Gibson, 43, of Westerlo, was scheduled to appear for sentencing Feb. 1 after he pleaded guilty to aggravated vehicular homicide. The conviction was in connection with a fatal vehicle crash on May 16, 2021, in Westerlo.

Gibson evaded police since February and was found in Nassau on Aug. 6 and was arraigned Aug. 9. He faces an additional charge of first-degree bail jumping, a class D felony.

A Nassau resident, Krystal Burl, 38, was also arrested and charged with second-degree hindering prosecution, a class E felony, for allowing Gibson to stay in her home, according to state police.

“An investigation determined Burl knew Gibson was wanted by law enforcement and rendered him assistance by allowing him to stay in her home,” state police said in a statement.

Gibson was arraigned in Albany County Court on Aug. 9 on the additional charge and was remanded without bail to the Rensselaer County Correctional Facility.

Burl is scheduled to be arraigned on the bail-jumping charge in Nassau Town Court on Aug. 24.
