ALTAMONT — A mother and son were arrested and face assault and other charges stemming from an alleged incident at the Altamont Fairgrounds, according to state police.

Angelique Anaya, 37, of Schenectady, and Sacario Anaya, 19, of Rotterdam, were arrested Aug. 21 by state police at Latham BCI.

Police responded to the parking lot of the Altamont Fairgrounds on Aug. 21 at around 8:10 p.m. for a report of a physical altercation.

August 21 was the final day of the Altamont Fair.

“The investigation determined both suspects exited their vehicle and assaulted multiple people,” state police said in a statement. “Angelique E. Anaya used a taser during the fight.”

The mother and son were arrested and brought to State Police at Guilderland for processing.

Angelique Anaya was charged with two counts of second-degree assault, a class D felony, and two counts of fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon, a class A misdemeanor. She was arraigned at Westerlo Town Court and released on her own recognizance. She will appear in court at a later, undisclosed date.

Her son, Sacario Anaya, was charged with third-degree assault, a class A misdemeanor. He was issued an appearance ticket returnable to Altamont Village Court on Sept. 28.
