COEYMANS — An Albany man was arrested and faces multiple felony charges following a report of an alleged domestic incident in the town of Coeymans on Christmas Day, according to the Albany County Sheriff’s Office.

Justin Wells, 32, of Albany, was arrested Jan. 12 after police conducted a two-week search that ended in a hotel in the city of Albany.

Sheriff’s deputies responded to a call of a reported domestic incident in the town of Coeymans on Dec. 25. Police did not disclose the address where the alleged incident took place.

Wells left the scene in a vehicle before deputies arrived, Albany County Sheriff Craig Apple said in a statement.

Wells had an active bench warrant out of the city of Albany, where he is accused of stealing a motor vehicle, Apple said.

He was found at Robert’s Towing in Albany, where police say Wells stole another vehicle.

“In the course of exiting Robert’s Towing, Wells crashed through an electronically powered gate, causing damage,” according to a statement from police. “Following an investigation and while Wells remained at large, the stolen vehicle was recovered in the city of Albany.”

Following a search that lasted more than two weeks, sheriff’s investigators arrested Wells at a hotel in Albany.

Wells has been charged with second-degree grand larceny and second-degree criminal possession of stolen property, both class C felonies; second-degree criminal mischief, a class D felony; second-degree bail jumping, a class E felony; resisting arrest, a class A misdemeanor; seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a class A misdemeanor; and third-degree criminal trespass, a class B misdemeanor.

He was arraigned in Albany City Court on Jan. 13 and was remanded to the Albany County Correctional Facility, according to the sheriff’s office.
