HUDSON—City Police charged Carl “Pepe” Williams, 20, of Hudson with second degree murder Monday, October 12 in connection with the stabbing death of a Hudson man the night of October 11.
A woman called Columbia County 911 to report that her neighbor at 10 Frederick Street was stabbed Sunday, October 11 around 11 p.m. The woman told Hudson Police that the victim was bleeding profusely from his neck.
Officers arrived at the ground-level apartment and found Cory “Skrilla” A. Velasquez, 27, unresponsive, the victim of multiple knife wounds to the neck. The Greenport Rescue Squad took him to Columbia Memorial Hospital where he later died.
Police said Mr. Velasquez was a Hudson resident and lived at several addresses around the city at different times.
HPD called in additional resources—State Police, the Columbia County Sheriff Office and the Columbia County District Attorney who arrived at the scene.
Mr. Williams was arraigned in City Court Monday afternoon. He pleaded not guilty and was held without bail. He was represented by attorney Garth Slocum, according to a Channel 10 News report.
One witness described two subjects, who police initially said were persons of interest in this matter: a black male, 6-feet tall, stocky build with braided hair, wearing a white shirt and dark blue sweatpants and a light-skinned black female, about 5-feet 7-inches tall.
Both subjects left the Frederick Street area in a black, late model sedan, police said. They asked anyone with any information about the case to call HPD detectives at 518 828-3388.
The combined police force investigated and developed many leads which they pursued throughout the night.
Police said both Mr. Williams and Mr. Velesquez have criminal histories and they knew each other.
