HILLSDALE–Town Supervisor Peter Cipkowski provided an email summary of business at the regular July 10 Town Board meeting. It is edited here.
The Hillsdale town website will be getting an upgrade. The board accepted a bid of $6,782 from TownWeb, specialists in municipality website design. The company will completely overhaul the site and provide mobile responsiveness as well as automatic technical and security updates.
In addition TownWeb offers a free design refresh every three years. Annual hosting, maintenance and support package costs an additional $1,068. The work begins August 1st and will be completed in the fall.

Highway Superintendent Richard Briggs has identified four compromised culverts in town. Hillsdale will partner with the Cornell Cooperative Extension, Trout Unlimited (TU), and the Housatonic Valley Association to review the current condition of the culverts. The goal is to reconnect degraded waterways and restore trout populations.
The four locations are: Breezy Hill Road near state Route 23, Mitchell Street near Holm Road, near 344 Collins Street and Tribrook near Collins Street. The proposed work includes removal or replacement of culverts, creek restoration and rock dam modification. The work is intended to maintain safe roads and improve fish and wildlife passage.
The project will progress over the next few years depending on schedules and budget.
The Hamlet and Historic Hillsdale committees have regrouped after a two-year hiatus reported Councilmember Tom Carty. The committees will meet monthly.
Town Hall will be the site of an historical exhibit honoring Major John Collin, a Civil War officer who resided on Hunt Road in Hillsdale. Maj. Collins’ portrait in uniform, done by his wife, Lucy, will be exhibited throughout the summer. His uniform is displayed by the Roeliff Jansen Historical Society in Copake Falls.
