Hannacroix man charged in fatal crash

BETHLEHEM — A Hannacroix man has been charged in a fatal crash in the town of Bethlehem, according to the Albany County Sheriff’s Office.

Samuel Keir, 52, was arrested Sunday following a two-car accident at the intersection of Route 396 and Starr Road that left the driver of the other vehicle dead.

Keir was driving after his license had been revoked due to previous incidents involved driving while intoxicated charges.

“Samuel Keir was found to be operating his vehicle with his operating privileges in New York as revoked due to previous DWI (driving while intoxicated) related incidents and was also found to be impaired at the time of operation,” according to a statement from the sheriff’s office.

Keir has been charged with first-degree aggravated unlicensed operation, a class E felony; driving while ability impaired with drugs and alcohol combined, an unclassified misdemeanor, and several vehicle and traffic violations.

Keir was issued an appearance ticket and released. He is scheduled to appear in the Town of Bethlehem Court on Sept. 20.
