GERMANTOWN—After two years of process, the Planning Board may decide as early as June 28 whether or not the town will get a Dollar General retail store. Primax Properties proposes the store on the west side of Route 9G just north of the intersection with Main Street.

The Planning Board holds a Public Hearing on the Primax/Dollar General Site Plan and Subdivision Monday, June 11 at 7 p.m. Written comments will be accepted until noon on Monday, June 18.

Then, “subject to what happens in Public Hearing, we have roughly projected that the Planning Board will be ready to arrive at a decision at our next meeting [June 28], or shortly after that,” board Chairman Stephen Reynolds said Tuesday.

The site plan and the subdivision for the store are being considered in parallel in the application, said Mr. Reynolds, so they will be approved or rejected together.

The elevations (shown here) are labeled Option G. While Mr. Reynolds had not kept an exact count he said, yes, Primax easily went through five to seven renditions of the store for the Planning Board.

A full set of elevations can be found on the town website, germantownny.org. Click on Planning Board at the top or the bottom of the home page and click on “DG – Germantown 2018.04.16 Opt G”.

Mr. Reynolds encouraged public comment. “The public is defined as anyone,” he said. “Those who live outside of Germantown are welcome to comment. Anyone who’s interested in the Route 9G corridor can comment. Tivoli, Red Hook, and up to Olana are all affected.”

The Public Hearing takes place in Town Hall, 50 Palatine Park Road. Written comment should be emailed to Jami L. DelPozzo, secretary of the Planning Board, at gtownpzsec@yahoo.com or mailed to her at Town Hall, Att: Jami DelPozzo, 50 Palatine Park Road, Germantown, NY 12526.
