GERMANTOWN—After six months of planning and consultation with community stakeholders, David Sammel of Sammel Architects in Somers made a presentation last month to the Germantown Central School District Board of Education on the progress of the capital project. This project includes the addition of a 400-seat auditorium to the school building, as well as interior renovations.

The project, as approved by district voters last June, has a maximum cost of $11.3 million, less $500,000 from the district’s reserve fund.

Mr. Sammel will continue to report to the board this year, including, possibly, at the next meeting, Wednesday, January 13 at 6:30 p.m. Board agendas and minutes are posted on the district’s website, germantowncsd.org.

Construction documents are being prepared now. The NYS Education Department is scheduled to review the project from June through November of this year. Bidding will begin in November, and construction is scheduled for February 2017 to the summer of 2018.

While changes will likely still be made, the artist’s renderings here show how Sammel Architecture, responding to community input, sees the project so far.
