GREENVILLE – A Greenville man was arrested and charged with sexual abuse of a child in the town of Chestertown.
Ashton Thompson, 20, of Greenville, was arrested by state police in Queensbury on June 23 at 12:05 p.m.
“Troopers received information that an adult man had inappropriate contact with a child under the age of 17,” according to a statement from state police. “The investigation determined in June 2023, while in Chestertown, NY, Thompson reportedly had sexual contact with a child.”
Thompson surrendered himself to state police and was taken to the state police barracks in Wilton for processing.
He was charged with third-degree sexual abuse and endangering the welfare of a child.
Thompson was issued an appearance ticket and was released. He is scheduled to return to Chestertown Town Court on July 18.
