GREENVILLE — Greenville High School announced its top 10 students as the 2022-23 school year comes to a close.
This year’s valedictorian is Nuala Kappel, and Benjamin Reinhard is the salutatorian of the Class of 2023.
Ranked numbers 3 through 10, respectively, are Finn Kosich, Emma Cardamone, Scott Duncan, Ryan Arp, Jaden Burke, Brett Larson, Jessica LaManda and Samuel Van Auken.
Students’ accomplishments and activities while in high school are outlined below.
#1 NUALA KAPPEL, VALEDICTORIAN
Nuala is the daughter of Shane Kappel and Ann Marie O’Hanlon of Greenville. She will graduate with an Advanced Regents Diploma with Honors and Mastery in both Math and Science, having earned a weighted average of 101.82.
Nuala has participated in multiple honors, advanced placement and International Baccalaureate courses throughout high school. She is Secretary of the National Honor Society and is involved in athletics, participating in varsity soccer as captain, 2nd Team Patroon Conference All-Star and Section 2 All-Star.
She also participated in varsity softball. Nuala is a member of the Select Treble Chorus, Mixed Chorus, and has written several articles for the local newspaper, the Greenville Pioneer, during her independent study in Journalism.
Nuala will continue her post-secondary studies at Binghamton University, where she will major in Political Science.
#2 BENJAMIN REINHARD, SALUTATORIAN
Ben is the son of Jason and Courtney Reinhard of Greenville. He will receive his Advanced Regents Diploma with Honors and Mastery in both Math and Science, having earned a weighted average of 101.64.
Ben has participated in multiple honors, advanced placement and International Baccalaureate courses throughout high school. He is vice president of the National Honor Society and attended the New York State Boys Conference last year.
Ben is very involved in athletics, playing varsity soccer all four of his high school years. He was named 2nd Team Patroon Conference All-Star in his freshman year and 1st team Patroon Conference All-Star the last three years. Most recently he was named Patroon Conference MVP as a senior and named to small school All-State teams in both his junior and senior years. Ben also participated in volleyball and track during his freshman year, and tennis in his senior year.
Throughout high school, Ben enjoyed coaching and assisting youth soccer teams with the Greenville Youth Soccer Club. He will continue his post-secondary studies majoring in Finance and Actuarial Science at Binghamton University.
#3 FINN KOSICH
Finn is the son of Jon and Amanda Kosich of Rensselaerville. He will graduate with an Advanced Regents Diploma with Honors and Mastery in Math and Science. Finn will continue his studies at Colgate University where he will major in Political Science.
#4 EMMA CARDAMONE
Emma is the daughter of Jonathan and Angela Cardamone of Greenville. She will graduate with an Advanced Regents Diploma with Mastery in Science and hopes to earn her full IB Diploma after graduation. Emma will continue her studies at Ithaca College, majoring in Composition.
#5 SCOTT DUNCAN
Scott is the son of Mark and Megan Duncan of Medusa. He will graduate with an Advanced Regents Diploma and hopes to earn his full IB diploma after graduation. Scott will continue his education at the Albany College of Pharmacy in the Doctor of Pharmacy program.
#6 RYAN ARP
Ryan is the son of Michael and Leslie Arp of Greenville. He will graduate with an Advanced Regents Diploma with Honors and Mastery in Science. Ryan will continue his studies at Russell Sage College majoring in Business Administration.
#7 JADEN BURKE
Jaden is the daughter of Daniel Burke of Greenville. She will graduate with an Advanced Regents Diploma. Jaden will continue her studies at SUNY Albany majoring in Political Science.
#8 BRETT LARSON
Brett is the son of Jeffrey Larson and Catherine Knaus of Earlton. He will graduate with an Advanced Regents diploma. Brett will continue his education at SUNY Canton, majoring in Mechanical Engineering.
#9 JESSICA LAMANDA
Jessica is the daughter of Michael and Gail LaManda of Freehold. She will graduate with an Advanced Regents Diploma with Honors. Jessica will continue her studies at Stony Brook University, where she will major in Nursing.
#10 SAMUEL VAN AUKEN
Sam is the son of Edward and Evangeline Van Auken of Medusa. He will graduate with an Advanced Regents Diploma with Honors and Mastery in Math and Science. Sam will continue his education at Hudson Valley Community College.
