STOCKPORT–Town Supervisor Leo Poucher examines the remains of a footbridge that once spanned the Stockport Creek. The weight of the snow collapsed the bridge, which was slated for Stockbridgerehab. Construction crews pulled the remains from the creek Wednesday afternoon.

Thousands of county residents remain without power as of late this afternoon (Wednesday), as the heavy wet snow brings down tree limbs, carrying wires as they fall. National Grid estimates that nearly 5,000 customers are without power. Central Hudson Gas & Electric Corporation said it could be several days before all customers are back online.

The Town of Greenport remains under a state of emergency, with no parking permitted on Town streets, while the area girds for another storm slated to begin Thursday morning and continue to Friday.
