COEYMANS HOLLOW — Jordan Flach has been named Firefighter of the Year at the Coeymans Hollow Volunteer Fire Corporation.

Flach was honored for his service at the department’s annual Installation Banquet at the Albany Marriott on April 15.

“Flach is a very active firefighter, making 96% of the department’s calls and 98% of its drills,” according to a statement from the department. “Flach attended state courses and has shown that he is a fast learner.”

Beyond responding to fire scenes and drills, he is also very active in the department and in helping to make incoming members feel welcome and comfortable as new volunteers in the fire service.

“He has been a bright spot in the company by actively participating in all activities and also assists the department’s newest members in becoming acclimated to their new role with volunteering for the community,” according to the department.

The Installation Banquet also honored Fire Chief Bill Kapusta with a special award as recognition for his service and dedication to both the fire department and the community. Kapusta has been with the department for 14 years.
