HUDSON—A Columbia County resident has tested positive for Coronavirus (COVID-19). The positive test has been confirmed by New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH), according to a March 20 press release from Columbia County Board of Supervisors Chairman Matt Murell and Columbia County Department of Health (CCDOH) Director Jack Mabb.

CCDOH staff is monitoring the individual, who is under mandatory isolation at home. The latest updates and guidance about COVID-19 will continue to be available at www.columbiacountynyhealth.com.

“In conjunction with our Department of Health, Emergency Response and other departments, we have been working diligently to plan and prepare for our response to COVID-19 here in Columbia County, preparing for weeks for the inevitable case,” Chairman Murell said in the release.

“Although there is a confirmed case in Columbia County, and patient confidentiality prevents specific details about the individual case, the risk to our community remains low,” Mr. Mabb said in the release. “However, it is more important than ever to be vigilant about proper hygiene to keep yourself and your family healthy and minimize the further spread of Coronavirus. If you are experiencing symptoms, or think you have contracted Coronavirus, contact your primary-care physician – do not go to your physician’s office before calling; your physician will provide further guidance based on your symptoms and exposure.

“Each individual has the power to reduce the impact on our community by staying home, whether you have symptoms or not. Additional information is available on Columbia County’s website, www.columbiacountynyhealth.com.”
