Kinderhook, Valatie choose incumbents


KINDERHOOK–Two incumbent trustees won reelection in the only contested race in the Village of Kinderhook election Tuesday, March 20.

Trustee Rich Phillips received 145 votes and Trustee Brain Murphy got 142 votes, winning the two seats on the board up for election this year. Challenger Susan Chiafullo received 119 votes.

Mayor Carol Weaver, who ran unopposed, received 183 votes, and village Justice David Dellehunt, also unopposed, got 175 votes.

A total of 205 votes were cast, 23 absentee ballots and 2 emergency ballots were cast after the machine stuck.

In neighboring Valatie, two candidates for trustee ran unopposed. Trustee Amy Freinberg-Trufas got 56 votes; Trustee Jennifer Furey got 50 votes. Sixty ballots were recorded in Valatie.
