COXSACKIE — A Coxsackie man was arraigned Thursday and charged with illegally possessing a firearm as a convicted felon, according to the U.S. Department of Justice Northern District of New York.
Shawn Ubrich, 50, of Coxsackie, was charged with illegally possessing an AR-15 rifle. He was arrested in Greene County on Oct. 5, 2021, and was arraigned Thursday in Albany.
Ubrich’s arraignment was announced by U.S. Attorney Carla Freedman; Special Agent in Charge John B. DeVito from the New York Field Division of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives; and Superintendent Kevin Bruen of the New York State Police.
Ubrich was arraigned before U.S. Magistrate Judge Christian Hummel.
If convicted, Ubrich could face a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison, a fine of up to $250,000, and a term of post-imprisonment supervised release of up to three years, according to the U.S. Department of Justice.
The case is being investigated by the ATF and state police, and is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Benjamin Clark.
