Columbiaville PO services relocate after accident shutters building

COLUMBIAVILLE–Due to a serious property-damage accident overnight March 12, the Columbiaville Post Office at 1227 Route 9, is closed pending safety reviews and repairs to that facility.

Approximately 90 post office boxholders are being directed to Stottville Post Office, 2857 Atlantic Avenue in Stottville, until further notice.

Columbiaville post office boxholders will be provided with hand-out of mail service at the Stottville counter until further notice.  Customers should be prepared to show identification to collect mail.

There are no change to addresses or to use of the 12050 Columbiaville ZIP Code during this period.  Deliveries by highway contract route will not be impacted, although customers with oversized or signature-required items will be directed to Stottville for pick up during business hours, according to Postal officials.

Retail hours at the Stottville Post office are weekdays 9 am to 1 pm and 2 pm to 4 pm with Saturday retail activities available 10 am to noon.  Lobby hours are 8 am to 5 pm weekdays and 8 am to noon on Saturday.

Postal officials add that there is no timetable to return to the facility at this time.  The Columbia County post office is leased and occupies 704 square feet of space at this address.

Regular retail operations at the Columbiaville Post Office would typically begin at 1 pm, weekdays, through 5 pm.
