Shiloh celebrates 98th year
HUDSON—The Shiloh Baptist Church, 14 Warren Street, celebrates its 98th anniversary, Sunday, November 10.
The preacher for the 11 a.m. service will be the church’s pastor, the Reverend Ronald Grant.
The theme for the occasion is, “What’s love got to do with it?” The supporting scripture is I Corinthians 13:1-13 and I Corinthians 12: 12-25.
Conservation program offered
GREENPORT—Columbia Land Conservancy offers Conservation Development: What Municipalities Want To Know at Columbia-Greene Community College, 4400 Route 23, Tuesday, November 12, 5:30 to 7:45 p.m. The cost is $10 for two training hours.
Attorney George Rodenhausen of Rapport Meyers LLP, and Tony Colyer-Pendas, CLC Director of Conservation Programs will present two perspectives on conservation development: the purpose of conservation design and how to achieve it through local laws and procedures; and ways that land trusts can help municipalities achieve the best outcomes.

Class tells how to talk to teens about money
CLAVERACK—Cornell Cooperative Extension of Columbia and Greene Counties hosts 90-minute workshop called “Talking to Teens About Money,” at the Education Center, 479 Route 66, Thursday, November 14 at 6:30 p.m.
Topics covered include: needs vs. wants, budgeting, comparison shopping, banking basics, savings accounts and credit cards. Parents will leave with resource materials to help guide or start discussions at home with their teens.

New auxiliary is meeting topic
STOTTVILLE—Anyone from the Stottville/Stockport area interested in re-establishing the Stottville Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary should attend a meeting on the subject at the Stottville firehouse, 2771 Atlantic Avenue, Wednesday, November 13 at 7:30 p.m.
The idea was “whole-heartedly” supported at a recent meeting of the Stottville Fire Company. Fire Company President Jim Vandenburgh will be the liaison between the fire company and the new auxiliary.
Gardeners hear about wildflowers
KINDERHOOK—Pam Taft from the Albany Cooperative Extension talks about 35 wildflowers that are common in this region at the next meeting of the Garden Club of Kinderhook, November 12.
The meeting takes place at the McNary Center, Sylvester Street at 1 p.m. Some plant folklore is fiction, but there is efficacy in other stories.
