COPAKE—At the June 5 Copake Republican caucus, voters endorsed the candidates nominated by the Copake Republican Committee.
David Paciencia, a registered Republican, is seeking a seat on the Town Board. He was the superintendent of the Taconic Hills Central School District from 2001 until 2007 and brings with him a record of fiscal responsibility and government experience.
“As I did when I served you as your school superintendent, I will serve you with honesty, positive leadership and a sense of fairness whenever I make decisions. I have no political bucket list. I simply want to give something back to our community,” Mr. Paciencia said, in a press release from the Copake Republican Club.
Glenn Schermerhorn (no party affiliation) is running for Town Justice. Mr. Schermerhorn has a long educational career at Taconic Hills and wishes “to transfer these skills from the classroom to the courtroom and will continue to deal fairly with all.”
Incumbent Town Board Member, Jeanne Mettler, a Democrat, has also been endorsed by the Republican caucus.
“The Copake Republican Committee and Copake Republican Club feel that these candidates, with their experience and credentials, are the best choice for the betterment of Copake. Please support them in the November elections,” Copake Republican Club President Lindsay LeBrecht said in the release.
