HUDSON–The Columbia County Board of Elections has released the official results of the September 15 primaries. Those results appear below.
After the polls closed on Primary Day, there were questions about the accuracy of the count in Taghkanic because of the complexity and number of races there. The board also had to wait a week to count all the absentee ballots, a procedure required by law. Some races were only determined by those mailed-in ballots. The final results were released September 24.
Taghkanic emerged as the town where minor party designations were most hotly contested. It was also the place where the turnout was highest, despite the town’s modest population.
The general election is Tuesday, November 3, but registration deadlines are fast approaching.
