CHATHAM—The Blue Plate Restaurant, 1 Kinderhook Street, hosts the sixth annual post-holiday party to benefit the Columbia-Greene Humane Society/Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, Saturday, January 8.

In the last 5 years, this event has raised more than $40,000 for CGHS/SPCA, which serves nearly 1,000 unwanted, abandoned, lost and/or abused animals every year.

All the food is donated by the staff and friends of the restaurant. The cost is $25 per person, more for those who can afford it, or less for those who can’t.

The food is served buffet style and will be accompanied by music from local bands and a cash bar.

In addition, there will be a silent auction and raffles. The benefit runs from 5 p.m. until everybody leaves.
“This year we’re continuing our tradition of a great party to benefit a great cause. The Humane Society really needs new facilities, so please come out and have a fun evening with us!” Co-organizers Marcia Curran and Colleen Carpenter-Rice said in a press release.

For more information or to donate silent auction items, contact Ms. Curran at the Blue Plate by phone at (518) 392-6953 or by email at marshland@capital.net, or the humane society at (518) 828-6044 or info@cghs.org.
