VALATIE–A “Garden Party for Dog Lovers” was held last week at the Nathan Wild House in the village, the home of Kevin Jacobs and Will Swift, with the event serving as a fundraiser to help build the Kinderhook Dog Park next to the town’s Volunteers Park.
Supporters of the park, who needed to raise money for the fencing to enclose the dog park, received donations amounting to over $1,600, and the Friends of Kinderhook Dog Park announced that they now could order the fencing to be installed.
“After a year of effort and generous contributions from people throughout the community, we can finally say that the Kinderhook Dog Park will be opening soon,” Dr. Swift told his guests, according to a press release from the group. The release says the audience cheered and barked their approval.
The group expects that the fencing will be installed within the next few weeks and that the Dog Park will open late in October, with a grand opening date to be announced.
Supporters are still invited to buy a “foot of fence” for $10/foot, and their names will be identified on the fence at the opening of the park. Donations should be made to Friends of Kinderhook Dog Park, P.O. Box 166, Kinderhook, NY 12106.
