KINDERHOOK – Local villages are holding elections for trustee positions on Tuesday March 15. Polls will be open in the village halls of Chatham, Valatie, Kinderhook and Philmont from noon to 9 p.m.

In addition to the contested races in Chatham and Philmont, Valatie Mayor Gary Strevell is running unopposed for his seat as are Village Board members Philip Bickerton and Nancy Bryant. Elections will be held at the Village Hall on the corner of Spring and Main streets.

In Kinderhook, trustees Dale Leiser and Robert Puckett are also running unopposed for their seats. The elections will be held at the Village Hall at 6 Chatham Street.

Village residents must be registered to vote in the local elections. The villages rather than the county have primary responsibility for conducting the elections, and questions should be directed first to village officials. The numbers to call with questions are: Chatham Village, 518 392-5821; Valatie, 518 758-9806 and Kinderhook at 518 758-9882.
