ANCRAM—The firehouse at 1306 County Route 7 will undergo a 7,200 square foot expansion next year.

The referendum to authorize the issuance of bonds for the $895,000 construction/expansion project cost was approved by voters—106 in favor, 18 opposed—during a special election December 18 at the fire station, according to the fire company’s website www.ancramfire.com.

During the fire district’s annual election December 11, John Ingram, who is also the Town Planning Board chairman, was elected to a five-year term as a fire commissioner. Mr. Ingram collected 44 votes. Two votes were cast for Jack Lindsey. Mr. Ingram will replace Perry Miller, who did not seek another term on the Board of Fire Commissioners.
