HUDSON—City Police arrested a man in connection with a robbery and assault at Star Market, 534 Warren Street, Thursday, July 16 at 9:35 a.m.
While following up on leads about the suspect, identified as James F. Gaudiosi, 43, of Hudson, police spotted him running away from them and into his Fairview Avenue residence.
Detectives and patrol officers chased him and saw him slip into a closet inside the residence.
When officers entered, Mr. Gaudiosi allegedly confronted and threatened them with an arrow. He was subdued, but allegedly continued to be uncooperative. He was taken into custody at 1:12 p.m.
Mr. Gaudiosi was charged with second degree robbery, a class C felony; menacing a police officer, a class D felony; third degree criminal possession of a weapon, a class D felony; and resisting arrest, a class A misdemeanor.
Police say that just before 9:35 a.m. yesterday (July 16), a man wearing a green shirt, sunglasses and a cloth, short-brimmed ball cap, entered the market and waited until customers left.
He then approached the woman store clerk and punched her.
He opened the cash register and ran out the rear of the store into Prison Alley with an undisclosed amount of money.
The Greenport Rescue Squad took the 32-year-old clerk to Columbia Memorial Hospital for treatment of the injuries she suffered during the crime.
Hudson Police Detective and Patrol Divisions are conducting the investigation, which is ongoing. Greenport Police assisted during the initial call.
