KINDERHOOK – The Ichabod Crane football team’s Booster Club held its 3rd Annual Rubber Ducky Derby last Saturday, October 9, raising funds to help kids continue to play football at ICC. Participants adopted bathtub ducks for $5 each, with discounts for higher volumes, and were invited to attend the derby, watching the race on the bridge in Kinderhook.
Each duck was assigned a number and at race time the yellow ducks were let loose into the waters of the Kinderhook Creek. At the finish line members of the football team launched their boats to capture the ducks and identify the winners.
The winning duck was adopted by Elizabeth Osterhoudt, who received $100 for first place. Other prizes awarded to the first 45 Ducks to cross the finish line included: tickets to Cohoes Music Hall; lift tickets to Catamount Ski Center; skate party for 8 at the Skate Factory; two hours of bowling and snacks at Bowling Green; Winding Brook Greens fees — balls and tees; day passes to Albany Indoor Rock gym; family pack to USS Slater Museum.
There were also gift certificates for Gettysburgh Flagworks, Bountiful Blooms, Funplex Funpark, LaBella’s, Wildhorse Liquor, Shop Rite, My Place Restaurant, Crazy Daisy, Del’s Dawgs, multiple gift certificates to Zia’s Pizza, Country Trunk, lunch for two at Super Chinese Buffet, Mavis Tires, Cross Eyed Owl, Yankee Trails, Pizza My Love! And other items.
