ANCRAM—Ancram bid farewell to Ken Leggett, the town’s appointed assessor for the past 12 years, at a retirement party featuring a table full of pizza and other foods plus a cake inscribed for the occasion, prior to the Town Board’s regular meeting at Town Hall, September 19.
Mr. Leggett, a Livingston resident, started working on that town’s highway crew in September 1974 and went on to become the elected assessor there in 1980. He leaves his assessor posts in both Ancram and Livingston at the end of this month.
He told The Columbia Paper he plans to spend more time with his loved ones and also promised to visit Town Hall once in a while.
The Ancram Town Board later voted unanimously to appoint longtime Gallatin assessor Rene DeLeeuw to fill the town’s assessor post for a six-year term starting October 1.
