You’ve heard the term “small fry?” The Canaan Conservation Club held its 23rd annual Hardwater Fishing Derby on Saturday, February 19. Queechy Lake was the location and 85 anglers signed up. The ice was about a foot thick, smooth and clear. Species included in the contest were trout, pickerel, perch and crappie, though no crappie were caught. Kelsey Winters pulls out a small pickerel, too small to keep.
Travis Van Wagner holds his 16-1/4″ brown trout which earned him third place in the adult division.
