Pete DeLuke

I’m Peter DeLuke, and I am running for Town of Coeymans Highway Superintendent. I’d like your readers to know a little bit about me and what I can bring to the position.

I have over 25 years of Road Construction and Road Maintenance experience in both the private and public sectors. I have certifications in single- and double-wing plowing, and am licensed by the NYS DEC in herbicide control. My in-depth, first-hand experience in these areas enable me to understand the highway needs of our community and how to execute solutions to those needs efficiently, safely and responsibly.

In addition to my technical skill, I also want to offer quality, hometown service to the people who live and work in Coeymans. One thing this means to me is to be responsive to residents when they contact the Highway Department with issues or concerns. I pledge to personally respond to each call or message from town residents. Another way I will serve with the best interests of the people of Coeymans in mind is to be mindful of the Highway Department finances. I will work with the Town Board to be able to maintain a high level of service while running lean on the budget so that the people of the community will see their tax dollars maximized. Also, I plan to work with surrounding municipalities to share services where appropriate in order to keep costs down and increase efficiency in service.

I believe the Highway Superintendent position is best carried out as “boots on the ground.” You’ll most likely see me in blue jeans, a T-shirt and work boots most days, and I will be working alongside the crews when and where I am needed. My family and I have lived in Coeymans since 1983, and I am eager and willing to put in hard work as an investment back into our community.

I’d like to thank your readers for their support and encourage each resident to come out to vote on Nov. 8.

Peter DeLuke is a candidate for highway superintendent in the town of Coeymans.
