RAVENA — Gabler Realty opened a satellite office in a long-vacant building on Main Street in the village.

Judi Gabler, staff and local elected officials and business leaders cut the ribbon Jan. 7 on the new office, 143 Main St.

“As an alumni of the Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk school district, I am super proud as the owner of Gabler Realty to be opening up our satellite location here,” Gabler said. “I see a lot of progress here in the business district and I am really proud to be a part of this.”

Gabler said there are a number of people who have been working to revitalize the village’s Main Street and found that was where she wanted to locate her new office.

“I am excited for this new adventure,” she said.

Gabler Realty’s main office is at 321 Delaware Ave. in Delmar and when she wanted to open a second office, she set her sights on Ravena.

“We thought it was a great opportunity for us,” Gabler said. “As an alumni of the RCS school district and doing a lot of business down here for our company, Gabler Realty, I felt like it was a great time for us to make an impression on Main Street and become a part of the revitalization.”

Gabler Realty has 20 real-estate agents that match property buyers and sellers throughout the Capital Region, with a good chunk of the company’s business in Ravena, Coeymans and Selkirk, Gabler said.

“We find that we are doing a lot more business down this way, just because we have clientele here, so we thought it would be good for us to be located here and grow more in this area,” she said.

Joy Iafallo, chairwoman of the RCS Community Business Association and a real-estate agent at Gabler Realty, said it was gratifying to open a satellite office on Main Street and to be a part of the village’s revitalization.

“It’s great that we have a real-estate company back on Main Street,” Iafallo said. “We are excited about it and I will be so glad to be here every day and see the revitalization that is going to happen on Main Street.”

The building where Gabler Realty opened has been vacant for many years, Mayor Bill Misuraca said.

It was a luncheonette back in the 1980s, Deputy Mayor Nancy Warner said.

“The last thing that was here was the Landmark II Bar and Luncheonette,” Warner said. “I remember coming down here years ago — they were open for breakfast and lunch. That was back in the ‘80s.”

Gabler Realty is the third business to open on Main Street since the day after Thanksgiving when Rail to River Brewing was the first, followed by Hi-Tech Advisers in December and now Gabler Realty. Two additional businesses opened in recent months on Central Avenue just off Main Street — Alli’s Bridal and Marino’s Collectibles.

Village Trustee Linda Muller said the village is hoping to bring more new businesses to the area.

“We are looking forward to adding more,” Muller said. “We want to keep this rolling.”

The former Fori’s store was recently purchased, and another vacant building across the street, near the firehouse, will provide a venue for artisans to rent booths and sell their wares, according to Warner.

“There is more coming,” Misuraca said. “Stay tuned.”
