Indians come away with wins in Hoosick Falls Duals

RAVENA-COEYMANS-SELKIRK — Indians wrestler Jorge Betancourt won every match he competed in at the Hoosick Falls Duals.

Betancourt, wrestling in the 285-pound weight class, defeated each of the three opponents he faced on the mat, pinning all three in under a minute — Jacob Jones from Hoosick Falls in 0:26, Fisher Dennible of Scotia-Glenville-Galway in 0:54, and Ethan Stoodley of Whitehall in 0:37.

Also coming away with wins in the competition were Jarrett Dragon in his only matchup, pinning Credence Keyes of Hoosick Falls in 1:39; Adam Hatz had two pins against Joseph Vertucci from Canajoharie-Fort Plain in 1:45 and Aydin Baldwin from Scotia-Glenville-Galway in 1:36; and Kellen Houghtaling had two pins against Garrett Taylor from Hoosick Falls in 3:35 and Ira Rozell from Whitehall in 1:06.

The Indians’ Kaleem Smith and Donovin Taber took home victories on the mat, with Smith defeating Hoosick Falls’ Jacob Sukuskus by pin in 1:44; and Taber pinning three competitors — Garrett Emerson of Hoosick Falls in 1:00, Gary Vertucci of Canajoharie-Fort Plain in 1:41, and Corban Brownell of Schuylerville in 1:37.

Also competing for the Indians in the duals were Jacob Alaimo, Rae Jones, Joe Miller, Aiden Miner, Mason Teriele and Finnigan Wickware.

The Indians came in fifth in team scores, winning their first round of competition but then falling in rounds two through five.
