FREEHOLD — A Freehold man was arrested Wednesday in connection with an alleged armed burglary in Westerlo, according to state police.
Joseph M. Sciancalepore, 19, of Freehold, was arrested Feb. 14, following an alleged burglary with a knife at a home in Westerlo the day before at around 8:20 p.m.
“The investigation determined Sciancalepore, who reportedly was armed with a knife, forced entry into the home that was occupied by an adult and a 17-year-old child,” state police said in a statement. During the incident, Sciancalepore caused injury to the adult victim and damage to the home.”
The knife was not used to cause the injury, police said. The child was not injured.
“Sciancalepore, who is known to the victims, fled in a vehicle before law enforcement’s arrival,” state police said.
He was taken into custody in Greene, NY, about four hours later, according to police.
Sciancalepore was transported to state police barracks in Westerlo for processing and charged with first-degree burglary, two counts of second-degree menacing, third-degree assault, fourth-degree criminal mischief and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon.
He was arraigned in Westerlo Town Court and released under the supervision of the Albany County Probation Department.
