Leland K. Brown, age 93, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Monday, Dec. 2, 2024.

He was born in the family farmhouse in Norton Hill on April 28, 1931, to the late Frank Brown and Cora (Stanton) Brown, and was a lifetime resident of Norton Hill.

Lee was a graduate of Greenville Central High School. He was always a farmer raising cows, pigs, but mostly chickens. He sold eggs for over 70 years.

Leland married Arlene King in 1958. They lived in the village and raised five children. They returned to the farmhouse in 1976. It was always family first and he was delighted in seeing all 27 members of the family together at Thanksgiving and other gatherings.

Leland was a lifelong member of the Asbury United Methodist Church as the sexton and head usher for 35+ years. He was a member of the FFA and later a 4-H leader of the Poultry Club. He loved traveling, square dancing, gardening and being with family.

He retired in 1995 after 37 years as the maintenance supervisor for Greenville Central High School.

Leland was predeceased by his parents, Frank and Cora Brown, and his brothers, Ralph, Stanton and Warren Winnie.

He is survived by his wife, Arlene, of 66 years; his children, David (Jennifer), Lyle (Theresa), Lawrence (Laura), Diane (Norman), and Stephen (Kate); his grandchildren, Jackie, Tyler, Kevin, Cassandra, Paitra and Quinn; great grandchildren Dillinger, Dane, Ella, Emersyn, Wesley and Colton.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Life Service on Tuesday, Dec. 10, at 12 p.m. at the Asbury United Methodist Church in Norton Hill, 5830 State Route 81, Greenville.  Condolences may be posted at ajcunninghamfh.com.
