CATSKILL – Doris A. Alix, 93, passed away at The Pines of Catskill on Tuesday, Aug. 29, 2023.

Doris was born in Catskill on Aug. 13, 1930, a daughter of the late Albert and Charlotte Rockefeller Yannone. She was a graduate of the former St. Patrick’s Academy. Doris married Lionel J. “Frenchy” Alix and together they raised their family on Route 81 in Surprise. Frenchy predeceased Doris on Jan. 23, 2006. 

Doris worked for a few seasons in the snack bar at Hi-Way Drive In, and as a chambermaid at Pine Lake Manor. She was a communicant of St. John the Baptist Church in Greenville, a life member of Medway-Grapeville Volunteer Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary, and a member of Greene County Ladies Auxiliary. Doris lived in Bethany Village in West Coxsackie for six years before moving to The Pines.

Doris is survived by her children, Jeannene (Gene) Albright, Paul (Julia) Alix, Debra (Joseph) Perino, and David (Jessica) Alix; grandchildren, Susan Albright, Jeffrey Albright, John Paul Alix, Thomas Alix, Sara Mae Smith, Brandon (Karolina) Perino, Lori (Max) Rausch, Brian Perino, and Samantha Alix; 14 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson; siblings, Janet Burnsed and Thomas (Linda) Yannone; many nieces and nephews; and her grand-dog, “Rufus.”

In addition to her parents and husband, Doris was predeceased by her siblings, Albert “Sonny” Yannone, Joan Surrano, and John Yannone.

Relatives and friends may call on Friday, Sept. 1, from 10-11 a.m. in St. John the Baptist Church, 4987 State Route 81, Greenville, and are welcome to remain for the Funeral Mass at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Greenville Cemetery.
