CATSKILL — The Greene County Women’s League (GCWL) will present its second annual Cabin Fever 2025 fundraiser to aid cancer patients living in Greene County on Saturday, March 15, from 1-5 p.m. at VOCO James Newbury Hudson Valley Hotel event center, The Wire, 48 S. River St. in Coxsackie.
Even with an unexpected snowstorm, last year GCWL raised over $56,000 with their first ever Cabin Fever event. Lisa Leone-Beers, 2025 co-chair, stated that, “even with the snow and ice people came and the night was a great success.”
This year is shaping up to be just that. The live auction will be held with numerous items not found anywhere else. There will also be a silent auction, brown bag auction, raffle prizes and a huge number of raffles. There are trips you can bid on along with some beautiful local prints and canvases from artists and photographers from the area. The best of the best venues, restaurants and hotels have donated overnight stays, gifts and tickets to events that only the Hudson Valley has to offer. Ladies are also excited for they have a special local dance group that will be performing during the event, too.
Judee Synakowski, president of GCWL, shared that her reasoning for joining this organization.
“Both my husband and my mom died of cancer. I, myself, am a cancer survivor,” Synakowski said. “I didn’t know anything about this organization when they were alive fighting this terrible disease or when I was. I was fortunate enough to hear about this wonderful organization from a longtime member I knew I wanted to join so that I can help Greene County cancer patients in memory of my husband and my mom.”
Tickets are $60 per person and include desserts, savories, and other specialties catered by Mazzone Hospitality. There will be a cash bar.
The VOCO James Newbury Hudson Valley hotel has also blocked off some rooms at special GCWL Cabin Fever rates so give them a call at 888-377-8626.
Tickets are available now by contacting Lisa Leone-Beers at 518-755-4744 or Cat Tice-Jones 518-821-6712.
About Greene County Women’s League:
The League was formed over 40 years ago by a group of 12 women with a mission to assist cancer patients with medical bills not covered by their insurance.
The League provides Greene County Cancer patients with assistance in paying medical expenses resulting from the diagnosis and treatment of cancer.
Although the League pays medical bills solely for Greene County residents, they do pay providers anywhere in the United States that Greene County residents choose to seek medical treatment.
Each patient who applies for assistance is eligible to receive a maximum of $5,000 in medical payments for expenses such as pharmacy bills, prosthetics, doctor and hospital co-pays. Proceeds raised by the League are committed to patient care.
