Family Storytime is a fun, participatory storytime for the whole family that includes songs, fingerplays, stories and movement activities. Early literacy activities are emphasized. No registration is needed.
- Big Play Day
Friday, Aug. 9, from 10-11 a.m.
The Big Play Day returns on Friday, Aug. 9, at 10 a.m. Families with young children are invited to play outside the library. There will be stations set up outside the building where kids and parents can explore interactive activities and engage in playful learning together. Bad weather location will be in the library play space and community room. Registration is preferred at rcscommunitylibrary.org but is not required. For ages 0-8.
- Chair Yoga for Seniors
Friday, Aug. 9, from 10:30-11:15 a.m.
This series of gentle classes is for folks ages 50 and up. No experience or equipment is required. Join in at Senior Projects of Ravena for this series of yoga classes taught by local instructor Kelley Curran of Well & Kell. There is no fee for this class. Registration is required at rcscommunitylibrary.org. Please provide an email address so the library can notify you in the event of any change to the schedule.
- Garden Field Trip
Saturday, Aug. 10, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Time to get outside! Join the library for a tour of the 22 demonstration gardens at the Cornell Cooperative Extension site. Participants will also have an opportunity to hear from Master Gardeners about a variety of ways to compost. A Cornell Cooperative Extension volunteer will lead children’s activities. You could even bring a picnic lunch if you’d like to stay and picnic on the grounds. This is a morning for the whole family. Please note: The grounds are not paved at all and may not be accessible to those using wheelchairs or walkers. There is no fee for this tour. The group will meet at the Cornell cooperative Extension gardens located at 24 Martin Road in Voorheesville. Registration is required at rcscommunitylibrary.org. For ages 5 and up.
- Board of Trustees Meeting

The monthly meeting of the RCS Community Library Board of Trustees. All are welcome.
- Romp and Read
Tuesday, Aug. 13, from 10-11 a.m.
Romp and Read will help get the wiggles out on Tuesdays and Fridays at 10 a.m. with interactive themes, stories, and action songs with props. No need to register.
- Write Together at the Library
Tuesday, Aug. 13, from 6:30-7:45 p.m.
Are you a beginning writer, or maybe working on the Great American Novel? Maybe you’re the short-story type? Prose fiction writers of all types and levels are invited to bring their notebooks, laptops or other writing implements and join in for an evening of writing together. The library will offer writing prompts, sprints and quiet time for you to get ahead on your writing project, no matter where you are in the process. - Coffee with ACCORD
Wednesday, Aug. 14, from 10:30-11:30 a.m.
Stop by the library to have coffee and treats with Albany County Crisis Officials Responding and Diverting (ACCORD). Come find out about this unique program staffed by medical and mental health professionals serving the “hill towns” of Albany County. Questions are encouraged. For adults and teens.
- New York Raptors
Wednesday, Aug. 14, from 6:30-7:45 p.m.
Meet birds of prey at the library. Three to four live hawks, owls and falcons will come for a face-to-face exploration of what it takes to be a raptor. The Southern Vermont Natural History Museum will be presenting with their live animal educators. Registration is required at rcscommunitylibrary.org. For all ages.
